Watch Overhaul

A Rolex or any other quality mechanical watch is just like a high performance car; it will succumb to poor maintenance over time.

That is why it is of utmost importance to perform a complete overhaul of a luxury timepiece periodically. How often you ask? Our certified watchmaker (with over 50 years of experience in the business, including many years working for Rolex) recommends quality watches like Rolex be overhauled every 3 to 3 1/2 years. Unfortunately, a lot of customers ignore this advice and pay the price eventually. Most customers also don’t have the slightest idea of the actual work that goes behind an actual overhaul.

What exactly should a proper overhaul entail? Let us show you…

Initially, the watch must be completely and methodically disassembled, piece by piece. To give you an example of the extent of this process, please look at the picture shown of a disassembled Rolex Day-Date during the overhaul process. All of the watch parts are then cleaned ultrasonically and degreased. Each piece is then inspected to make sure that excessive wear does not exist, which would require replacement. The seals on the back of the case and crystal are then replaced with genuine parts. The same is true for the crown gasket.

The watch is then refinished to make it look like new. This includes removal of any surface scratches and scuff marks on the case, bezel, and bracelet.

A Rolex requires different types of lubricants. During reassembly, we make sure that the correct and highest quality lubricants and oils are used to lubricate all moving parts for the maximum protection of your watch.

Before the overhaul is complete, the watch undergoes high standard testing to ensure proper functionality and accuracy, as well as water resistance.

You can rest assured that our recommended overhaul process will extend the life of your treasured timepiece for generations to come.
